ON OFF presents the first COLE JAZZ workshop in Paris, taking place September 3–4, 2026.
This immersive two-day intensive offers dancers a rare opportunity to train professionally in the foundational theatrical jazz technique created by Jack Cole, guided by artists who directly carry his lineage forward.
One of the foremost pioneers of American theatrical jazz dance, Jack Cole developed the first codified jazz dance technique by synthesizing influences from the diverse movement traditions he studied, including African and Afro-Caribbean dance forms, Classical Indian dance, and Lindy Hop/Swing.
His groundbreaking work laid the foundation for countless contemporary dance styles and influenced iconic artists including Michael Bennett, Jerome Robbins, and Bob Fosse.
Led by Cam Loeser, artistic director of COLE JAZZ and steward of the Cole legacy, alongside company member and associate Eliza Ohman, this research-based workshop explores Cole's kinesthetic approach to technique and choreography, as well as its relationship to the nervous system and the dancer's mind-body connection and artistry.
Across approximately nine hours of training, dancers will engage with guided somatic preparation, movement research, original Jack Cole repertoire, and contemporary choreography inspired by his work.
Throughout the intensive, dancers will explore:
Jack Cole and Joseph Pilates' floor progression, designed to develop strength, mobility, coordination, and body awareness
Core principles of Cole's technique, including musicality, precision, dynamic contrast, and theatrical expression
Original Jack Cole repertoire and contemporary choreography inspired by his movement language
THE FUTURE OF COLE JAZZ IN EUROPE:
This exciting collaboration between COLE JAZZ and ON OFF is part of a broader mission to create ongoing opportunities for European artists to engage with this historic dance form.
COLE JAZZ seeks to cultivate a collective of dancers in Europe trained in Cole’s technique who can participate in future performance projects currently in development by Cole Jazz - including The NEW Jack Cole Dancers’ CLUB ACT - ensuring the preservation and advancement of Jack Cole’s enduring legacy worldwide.

This intimate two-day workshop is taught in English and open to intermediate, pre-professional, and professional dancers ages 16 and up.
Due to limited capacity, participation is by application. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Upon acceptance, payment is required to secure your place.
This workshop is designed to be taken as a full two-day experience. Please note your ticket is non-refundable or exchangeable.

Guest Teacher
Cam Loeser is the Artistic Director of the nonprofit COLE JAZZ and its dance company The NEW Jack Cole Dancers. As the leading steward and innovator of Jack Cole’s historic legacy,Cam teaches the Cole technique and creates new work in the Cole style, ensuring that Cole’s artistic voice continues to persevere, evolve, and reach new artists and audiences across the globe.
Cam is the Director & Choreographer for The NEW Jack Cole Dancers’ CLUB ACT, an Immersive jazz dance production that first premiered at the Mastercard Midnight Theater in 2024. CLUB ACT recently celebrated a residency through the CUNY Dance Initiative at LPAC’s Little Theater, and will soon return to New York for an ongoing run, with engagements in London and India on the horizon.
Through COLE JAZZ’s global education initiative, Cam teaches the Jack Cole technique to professionals and pre-professionals alike in New York, and has developed or participated in training programs in London, Maine, California, Japan, and Mexico. Cam also teaches Cole Technique through the Verdon Fosse Legacy and UPROOTED, and will soon bring the Cole legacy to China, Finland, and Paris for the first time.
Before launching COLE JAZZ, Cam was Associate to the late Broadway choreographer and Fosse prodigy Chet Walker. Under Chet’s wing, Cam acted as Associate Choreographer for the Broadway Revival of PIPPIN’s international engagement, assisting Chet in remounting the production in Tokyo in 2019, and representing Chet for its remount in Sydney in 2020, and again in Tokyo in 2022. Having charged the modern-day resurgence of Cole’s legacy, Chet passed on his knowledge of the Cole technique and style to Cam throughout their years working together on Chet’s Jack Cole project in New York and London.
Cam also served as the Resident Director/Assistant Choreographer for the CHICAGO NationalTour, Dance Captain/ Swing for the CHICAGO UK Tour’s engagement in Tokyo, and Tour Choreographer for the Finding Neverland National Tour.
Having learned from Chet’s example the importance and responsibility of passing on knowledge, Cam has dedicated his career to honoring and advancing the legacy of Jack Cole and American Jazz dance. Through this charge, Cam hopes to reinstill greater integrity into the current Jazz dance scene, and foster deeper widespread awareness and respect for where this incredible art form comes from.
Eliza Ohman
Guest Teacher
Eliza Ohman is a NYC based artist with over a decade of professional experience as a performer, choreographer, and educator. Her versatility has allowed her to work in both commercial and theatrical spaces around the world including The Radio City
Christmas Spectacular, music videos with artists such as Carly Rae Jepsen and Drake, television spots for shows like Fosse/Verdon (FX), Up Here (Hulu), The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (Amazon) and Saturday Night Live (NBC), and even live events such as The Met Gala: In America.
Her theatrical credits include Hamilton (Broadway, National Tour, and International Tour), King Kong (Original Broadway Cast & Chita Rivera Award), and the title role in Danny and the Deep Blue Sea.
Eliza is a proud associate, educator and company member of Cam Loeser's COLE JAZZ & The NEW Jack Cole Dancers. Alongside Cam, Eliza has led Cole workshops and training programs in New York and London, and serves as the Associate Director for The NEW Jack Cole Dancers’ CLUB ACT. Eliza also works with The Verdon Fosse Legacy as an assistant, reconstructor, educator, and protégée as well as recipient of their first ever Gwen Verdon Fellowship. Most recently she was part of Linda Haberman's skeleton crew as she developed a brand new piece celebrating the legacy and future of Bob Fosse's work.
In addition to performing, Eliza is the US Associate Choreographer for SIX: The Musical. She is on faculty at NYC’s Steps on Broadway, a guest instructor at institutions such as Broadway Dance Center, The University of Arizona, Marymount Manhattan College and The Joffrey Ballet School, and teaches classes/workshops internationally. She is a Level Three Certified practitioner of Andrew Byrne’s The Singing Athlete, which specializes in the study of neuroscience combined with athletic training principles. Brain-based training using targeted, individualized drills to free the body and voice has revolutionized her teaching. It is a holistically minded approach designed to empower performers with the exact tools they need to thrive. Eliza has experienced firsthand the transformative nature of this work and is thrilled to share it with students.

This workshop is for intermediate, pre-professional, and professional dancers with strong technical proficiency and a solid understanding of jazz dance foundations. This is not a beginner-level workshop.
Dancers must be 16 years or older by the start of the workshop.

The workshop will be taught in English. All levels of English are welcome.

Because space is limited to 35 dancers, we ask for a short application so we can get to know you and create a supportive learning environment for everyone.

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis as they are received. This workshop is designed as a full two-day experience. Dancers available for both days will be prioritized. We recommend applying early, as spots may fill before the deadline.

If accepted, you will receive a confirmation email with a payment link. Payment is required to secure your place.

All payments are non-refundable. If you arrive late, miss any portion of the workshop, or cancel your participation, refunds will not be issued. No exceptions.

Please wear dancewear that allows for comfortable movement.
Jazz shoes and jazz dance heels (such as LaDuca or Capezio) are recommended.
Street shoes and regular dress heels are not permitted in the studio. If shoes do not meet studio requirements, you will be asked to remove them. -
Please bring a water bottle and any personal items you need for the day.
No food or beverages (other than water) are allowed in the studio. Snacks are permitted in the common areas and lounge only. -
This is a professional learning environment. We ask all dancers to arrive prepared to learn and be respectful of the space, the teaching artists, and one another. We also hope this weekend is a chance to build community and form lasting connections.

Photos and video recording are strictly prohibited during the workshop. We will have a professional photographer and videographer documenting the weekend. We ask that you put your phone away and be fully present in the work.

Yes. If the workshop fills, we will maintain a waitlist and contact dancers if a spot becomes available.

Yes. The workshop is open to dancers traveling from within France and internationally. Participants are responsible for arranging their own travel and accommodations.

Les danseur·se·s de niveau intermédiaire, pré-professionnel et professionnel (16 ans et plus), avec une bonne base technique et une bonne connaissance du jazz, sont encouragé·e·s à postuler.
Les participant·e·s doivent avoir 16 ans révolus au début du workshop.
